Jeffrey Beecher, double bass
Jeffrey Beecher pursues a varied musical career as both an energetic performer and educator. Currently Principal Bass with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Mr. Beecher has performed with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Minnesota Orchestra, the Detroit Orchestra, and the Orchestra of St. Luke’s. An active chamber musician, Mr. Beecher has enjoyed performing at such venues as Bargemusic, Weill Recital Hall, the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, the 92nd Street Y, and Merkin Hall. He has also performed at numerous festivals including the Salt Bay Chamber Festival and the Marlboro Music Festival. Mr. Beecher is also a regular member of Yo-Yo Ma’s Silk Road Ensemble, frequently performing with the Ensemble in the major venues of North America as well as Azerbaijan, Israel, Malaysia, Japan, and India. Mr. Beecher has participated as a mentor along with other members of the Silk Road Ensemble in the Weill Institute Professional Training Workshops at Carnegie Hall. Mr. Beecher began his musical education at the Juilliard School of Music and the Manhattan School of Music, and completed his studies at the Curtis Institute of Music with Harold Robinson and Edgar Meyer. He plays on a double bass made by Giovanni Battista Rogeri made in Brescia, Italy in 1690.
