Beth Guterman, viola

Violist Beth Guterman is a native of Belmont, Massachusetts, and is one of the most sought after young violists of her generation. As a chamber musician she has collaborated with Gil Shaham, Itzhak Perlman, Menahem Pressler, and members of the Guarneri, Emerson, and Orion Quartets. A member of Lincoln Center’s Chamber Music Society Two program during the 2006-09 seasons, she recorded and will continue to record chamber works for the Deutsche Grammophon label. In the upcoming season Ms. Guterman will perform Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante with the Wellesley Symphony Orchestra, with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, as Principal of the Iris Orchestra, with the East Coast Chamber Orchestra and the new music group Signal. She will perform as guest artist with the Musicians from Marlboro tour, the Boston Artists Ensemble and the Claremont Trio. Ms. Guterman finished her Artist Diploma at the New England Conservatory in 2009 with Kim Kashkashian. She received her BM and MM from the Juilliard School studying with Masao Kawasaki and Misha Amory. Ms. Guterman plays on a rare 1590 Gasparo da Salo, which is on an extended loan through the generous efforts of The Stradivari Society of Chicago and the Samsung Foundation of Culture. Her bow, lent to her by the Four Oaks Foundation, is a Sartory made for Eugene Ysaye and owned by the late Isaac Stern.
