Ani Kavafian, violin
Violinist Ani Kavafian enjoys a prolific career as a soloist, recitalist, and chamber musician. She has performed with virtually all of America’s leading orchestras, including those of New York, Philadelphia, Cleveland, Detroit, San Francisco, and many others. Her numerous solo recital engagements include performances at New York’s Carnegie and Alice Tully halls, as well as in major venues across the country. Ms. Kavafian continues her association as an Artist Member of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, and performs as soloist with, and as guest concertmaster of the Seattle Symphony. Ms. Kavafian is Professor of Violin at Yale University and has also been appointed to the concertmaster position of the New Haven Symphony Orchestra. This summer, she will participate in the Heifetz International Music Institute, Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival, Norfolk Festival, Great Lakes Festival, and Music From Angel Fire. She has received the Avery Fisher Career Grant and the Young Concert Artists International Auditions award, has appeared at the White House on three separate occasions, and has been featured on many network and PBS television music specials. Her recordings include the Bach Sonatas with Kenneth Cooper, Mozart Sonatas with Jorge Federico Osirio, Henri Lazarof’s Divertimento for Violin and Strings with the Seattle Symphony and Tod Machover’s “Forever and Ever” for computerized violin and orchestra. She plays the 1736 Muir McKenzie Stradivarius violin, and lives in northern Westchester with husband, artist, Bernard Mindich.
